The use of makerspaces in libraries has steadily increased over the past few years, these centers of innovation have often been rooted in a particular place. Even mobile makerspaces reach a limited audience by requiring users to be within a set of “four walls” at a specific time. In response, we propose a new model for mobile makerspaces that emphasizes prototyping as pedagogy. This method involves shipping small, fabrication technologies and instructions to users using priority mail, or the “four walls” of the shipping box.
